We at The Legal are in the process of conducting our first Pennsylvania Litigation Departments of the Year contest, which will have two distinct portions – a general contest to award the top department in general litigation, as well as a contest to determine the top specialty practice departments.
We are inviting all firms to submit entries for the general contest and/or the specialty area contests, though separate submissions are required for each category entered. The five specialty areas to be awarded are: 1. Intellectual Property; 2. Products Liability/Mass Torts; 3. Labor and Employment; 4. Insurance/Medical Malpractice; and 5. Class Action.
The competition is open to any law firm with a Pennsylvania presence; Pennsylvania lawyers must have had a meaningful and significant impact on the work being presented, though the work does not need to have been done in Pennsylvania. For both competitions, specific and verifiable information is expected whenever possible to help in the decision process.
Submissions should include descriptions and details of litigation results that demonstrate your department’s excellence during the two-year period from Jan. 1, 2010 to Dec. 31, 2011. In each case, work done by Pennsylvania lawyers should be highlighted. Submissions also require an essay, no longer than 1,000 words, explaining why your firm should be a finalist.
To enter your firm into the contest, contact me at BSeal@alm.com for complete rules and requirements. The deadline for all submissions is March 5. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me or call me at 215-557-2368. Winners are set to be announced in late April and the special section is scheduled for publication in The Legal on June 26.
