Former Chester County District Attorney Joseph W. Carroll is set to join Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel as of counsel on April 23.
According to a firm press release, Carroll will be based in the firm’s Berwyn, Pa., office and will focus his practice on white-collar crime, corporate investigation and regulatory compliance.
Carroll opted not to run for re-election last year after a decade as district attorney.
Thomas A. Leonard, chairman of the firm’s litigation department, said in the press release that Carroll chose the firm, in part, because “we can provide him with the type of regional and national platforms he wants to develop his practice."
Carroll was quoted in the press release as saying he feels “truly energized” about the move.
“As the chief law enforcement officer for Chester County, I made the final decisions about the use of search warrants, wiretaps, grand juries and other investigative techniques in major cases,” Carroll said in the release. “My experience combined with Obermayer’s experience and sophistication in their investigative and regulatory practice areas is a natural fit.”
