The First Judicial District is aiming to roll out e-filing in criminal cases for members of the criminal bar by April 2, 2012, according to an announcement today by the administrative judge of the Philadelphia Common Pleas Court trial division.
The FJD also is aiming to roll out the internal part of e-filing for internal users by Sept. 2, Common Pleas Court Judge D. Webster Keogh announced in a press release today.
Electronic case filing and document case management have already been implemented for Orphans' Court, Common Pleas Court civil cases, Municipal Court civil cases and mental health cases. E-filing has been mandatory in common pleas civil cases for over two years.
Court leaders said they were announcing the target deployment of e-filing for criminal cases to help criminal attorneys prepare their offices for the transition.
Court Administrator David D. Wasson, named to the position in March, has said that one of his goals is to implement e-filing for all courts and case types.
