Pepper Hamilton has bolstered its affordable housing and community development practice with the addition of Morgan Lewis & Bockius practice Henry Liu.
Liu, who joined Pepper Hamilton today, is based in Washington, D.C., as a partner in the affordable housing practice, which is part of the firm’s financial services practice group.
Liu focuses his practice on real estate transactions and related areas including the leasing, financing, development and disposition of retail and commercial properties. He also has experience in the areas of low-income housing and economic development.
Liu represents lenders in the origination and sale of loans under Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and private mortgage conduit multifamily and commercial programs. He also represents lenders in the origination of multifamily affordable housing loans funded through the issuance of fixed rate and variable rate tax-exempt bonds under various Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily bond credit enhancement programs.
In a statement from Pepper Hamilton, Christine Waldmann Carmody, head of the firm's FHA lending practice, said, “The combination of Henry’s active Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily lending practice with our FHA multifamily lending team is certain to serve all of our multifamily and affordable housing clients well.”
Pepper Hamilton has nearly 40 lawyers in its Washington office.
